I hope and pray that the government of Portugal takes cognizance of the dire ramifications on its country and citizens before revoking its own laws and policies. Further, lawmakers should also recognize the economic and goodwill contribution of the "golden visa" not only to Portugal but to Europe as a whole.

A proposta do Governo português afeta as legítimas expectativas dos requerentes do visto gold. Para os pedidos de visto já apresentados mas que serão revogados com efeitos retroactivos, tal afectaria irreversivelmente os direitos adquiridos, sem qualquer respeito pelos legítimos interesses de quem investiu no território nacional e prejudicaria terrivelmente a credibilidade e a imagem internacional do país. Comercialmente, as aspirações futuras de Portugal seriam seriamente prejudicadas por causa desta imagem manchada. Felizmente, Portugal continua a ser uma Democracia Constitucional, e esperamos que o governo encontre um equilíbrio na implementação de políticas ou medidas que não violem a Constituição da República Portuguesa, em violação dos princípios da segurança jurídica e da proteção da confiança e imagem internacional entre os comunidade de investimentos.
