I’m currently a gold visa holder. If the conditions for applying for a golden visa are amended and the amended conditions apply retrospectively to the current visa holder, it is simply against the basic principle of fairness. The relevant authority should also responsible for the loss suffered by the visa holders as they would not have applied if the amended conditions were in effect in the first place.

Implementar leis retroactivas e não dar tempo de ajustamento suficiente ao mercado prejudicam significativamente a imagem de Portugal. Os investidores ficam seguros. No total, há cerca de 11.000 investidores Golden Visa em dez anos. Este é um número insignificante em comparação com a população total de Portugal e tem um impacto mínimo nos preços da habitação.

Please keep Portugal open and welcoming - do not repeat the "Brexit" mistake by shutting down international capital. Focusing on the broader picture as it will ultimately strengthen the whole economy which will benefit everyone in this country in the long run.

My husband & I applied for a Golden Visa in 2021, but not even preliminary approval has been issued after 15+ months. The law requires a SEF decision in 3 months. We invested €350.000 in a Venture Capital Fund which invests only in early-stage Portuguese start-up companies, directly contributing to an increased number companies and jobs in Portugal. If the fundamental terms of the Golden Visa program are changed from those set out in Portuguese law at the time we made our investment, we will probably withdraw our money from the fund and Portugal and invest it in another EU country. Portugal will have broken its legal agreement with me and broken my trust in the Portuguese rule of law. In addition to the Fund investment, we have been working hard to buy a vacant building in Lisbon to restore. We plan to live in some areas of the building full time and rent out other areas for housing. If the Golden Visa law is changed from what we and the Government agreed to, we will not buy the building or invest the rehab money and thus not create new apartments for Lisbon renters. The number above is the last four digits of my US Passport, on file with SEF - as I am not yet a citizen.

My investment was in the development of farmland in the hopes of helping the Portuguese economy and creating opportunity in the country where I hope to live. I am very disappointed that the government is considering retroactively modifying the terms on which I made my investment.
