We, Amigos dos Gatos do Algarve and worldwide friends of the famous Albufeira street cat Mr No Ears, would like to request that the Algarve tourist board consider the erection of a small information plaque giving details about this famous cat, on a public wall where the colony lives. Mr No Ears is a distinctive pure white street-cat with one eye and no ears who lives with his family and friends across from the Rocamar Hotel, on the walkway overlooking Praia do Peneco in Albufeira, Portugal. Many visitors, both local and international, have grown to love Mr No Ears through published articles and his Facebook page (19,250 ‘likes’ from friends in over 45 countries) and come looking for him when they visit the Algarve on holiday. An information plaque would identify the location of the cats and give information about Mr No Ears to curious passers-by. Visitors who see Mr No Ears for the first time are sometimes concerned about him because of his ‘unusual’ appearance - an information plaque would explain that the colony of cats is part of a Trap Neuter Return program supported with food and veterinary assistance by Amigos dos Gatos do Algarve (AGA). This is an excellent idea! Clearly, many tourists and visitors to this town are unaware of the true set-up and the fact that there is NO cause for concern - let alone alarm, regarding Mr No-Ears (or indeed any of the other street cats in this "managed" cat colony!). I would welcome an informative plaque in e.g., English and German.
