Help Italy save Migrants

"In demanding an end to the Mare Nostrum rescue operation that saved 170,000 lives, and replacing it with a surveillance mission, the EU has turned its back on its responsibilities and clearly threatens thousands of lives," said Jean-François Dubost, Amnesty's displaced persons director in Paris.
This week, 400 migrants, first, and secondly, 700 new migrants, disappeared in the Mediterranean Sea approaching Italy. Italy, alone, could not save these lifes.
This year, more than 500 migrants, many refugees fleeing wars in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan, had died so far this year trying to cross to Europe -- ten times the toll over the same period last year.
Italian coastguards, who intercepted 42 boats on Sunday and Monday alone carrying 6,500 migrants attempting to make the hazardous crossing to Europe, confirmed that they had saved 145 people from the sunken boat and found nine bodies.Coastguard spokesman Commander Filippo Marini told AFP that they had not found any more "survivors or anything else which would indicate more victims".
Please, help us to ask the European Union to help Italy on rescue operations, so these tragic events stop happening.
Please, help us ask the European Union to help Italy with all the new migrants that arrive to its coast daily. The EU should share these people among other Member-States. Italy, alone is helpless. A ressetlement decison is required!

This petition is aimed at requesting to the European Commission and the Governments to help Italy in two fronts:
a) through systematic rescue operations at the Mediterranean Sea
b) through ressetlement of migrants throught all Member-States
