Stop Millennium BCP From Blocking Account Closures & Charging Unfair Fees
Para: Millennium BCP
Millennium BCP has repeatedly failed to close my account despite multiple formal requests, in clear violation of Portuguese banking laws.
In my personal documented case, I requested the account closure in 2019, but was met with bounced emails, unreachable contacts, and contradictory instructions, all while the bank continued to charge unjustified fees.
Portuguese law states that accounts must be closed within one month of a request, including via remote channels, and without closure fees for consumers or micro-enterprises. Millennium BCP’s representatives mentioned a waiting time of 60 days, their ongoing delays, lack of communication, and continued debiting constitute unlawful conduct and breach of consumer rights.
Similar experiences have been reported by other acquaintances, suggesting a systemic pattern of exploitation.
This petition demands immediate compliance with account closure laws, an internal investigation into such practices, and accountability for the harm caused both financial and personal.
