Exmo Senhor Presidente da Assembleia da República


Todos os abaixo signatários, vêm solicitar a tomada de medidas que permitam transformar drasticamente o corte florestal da zona interior do país, transformando o actual "Eucalipinhal do Interior" numa Floresta Autóctone do Interior.


Perante a tragédia que ocorreu no dia 17 de Junho de 2017, que levou à morte de 64 pessoas e à destruição de uma quantidade inominável de património natural e humano, torna-se clara uma necessária intervenção urgente e revolucionária no Ordenamento de Território e no pladas Florestas em Portugal.


Como centro embrionário desta transformação deverá ser criado um Parque Reserva Natural de Floresta Autóctone do interior, localizado simbolicamente no local de origem do grande incêndio de Pedrógão Grande. Simbolicamente atravessado pela estrada EN236-1, este parque deverá ter as dimensões de 6400 hectares, 100 hectares de corte florestal por cada vítima deste incêndio. O Parque deverá ser delimitado pelas cidades de Castanheira de Pêra, Pedrógão Grande e Figueiró dos Vinhos.


Como em outras grandes tragédias que ocorreram na humanidade, é importante não deixar que a memória se evada e que os erros se repitam. Como tal, é de extrema importância criar um centro de memória, simbolo de renovação e de transformação, para que os erros por já muitos apontados que conduziram e conduzem a eterna calamidade de incêndios incontroláveis, não se voltem a repetir.


O Parque Reserva Natural de Floresta Autóctone do Interior deverá servir não só como memória de um passado trágico, mas também como recuperação histórica do corte florestal original do nosso país, através da re-plantação de árvores autóctones como o carvalho, o castanheiro, a azinheira e o freixo. Este será um Museu Vivo da Floresta de Portugal, estando localizado estrategicamente no centro do país, onde o Clima Mediterrânico e Clima Atlântico se cruzam.


Entre as vantagens da criação deste Parque são de destacar:

- Recuperação da flora natural do centro do país.

- Recuperação da fauna natural, cujo o habitat natural se tem vindo a deteriorar, pela invasão de espécies não-autóctones (eucalipto e pinheiro bravo).

- Desenvolvimento e valorização do turismo de natureza, numa zona que já de si apresenta um potencial elevado, pelos vários recursos hídricos, praias fluvais e barragens existentes.

- Atracção de turismo nacional e internacional ao interior do país, actualmente brutalmente afectado pela desertificação e abandono.

- Desenvolvimento do potencial educativo para as populações em geral, e para gerações jovens, criando um centro de informação sobre a floresta autóctone portuguesa, sustentabilidade e recuperação da Natureza.

- Desenvolvimento do potencial educativo em relação aos incêndios em Portugal, pela criação de um centro de memória das vitimas dos incêndios em Portugal, associado a uma informação clara e sustentada sobre causas e estratégias de prevenção do fogo.


Para que a criação deste Parque Natural seja o princípio de uma transformação da abordagem em relação à floresta, à natureza e a quem trabalha na agricultura e nos recursos.

Dear Sir President of the Portuguese Republic Assembly


All the following subscribers, request the urgent taking of measures, that will allow the drastical transformation of the forest of Portugal's interior country. We demand the transformation of the current forest of eucalyptus and pine trees into a Native Forest.

Towards the tragedy that occur on the 17th of June 2017, that lead to the dead of 64 people and the destruction of a countless ammount of natural and human patrimony, it is clear that it is necessary an urgent and revolucionary intervention in land and forest planning in Portugal.

As an embryonic center of this transformation, shall be created a National Reserve for the Native Forest, located symbolically in the place of origin of the great fire of Pedrógão Grande. Symbolically crossed in the middle by the road EN236-1 (sadly now called the Road of Death), this Reserve shall have the dimensions of 6400 hectares, 100 for each one of the victims. The Reserve shall be delimited on the edges by the cities of Castanheira de Pêra, Pedrógão Grande and Figueiró dos Vinhos.

As in other great tragedies that occur in humanity, it is important that memory doesn't fade away and that mistakes repeat themselves. As such, it is of extreme importance to create a center of memory, symbol of rebirth and transformation, so that the errors that now caused such a tragedy, and that keep on originating more and more fires, shall not be repeated.

The Natural Reserve of Native Forest, shall not only serve as a memory of a tragic pass, but also as a historic recuperation of the original portuguese forest, throught the re-plantation of native trees like the oak, the chestnut tree, the holm oak, the ash, between other. This will be a Live Museum of the Portuguese Forest, being strategically located in the center of the country, where the Mediterranean and Atlantic Climate cross.

Between the advantages of the creation of this reserve the following shall be pointed out:

- Restoration of the natural flora on the country interior.

- Restoration of the natural fauna, whose natural habitat has been deteriorated by the invasion of non-native species like the eucalyptus and the pinaster.

- Development of the nature tourism, in an area that shows already a high potential due to the existing water courses.

- Appealing to national and international tourism to the country interior, nowadays brutally affected by desertification and abandonment.

- Development of educational potential for the populations in general and mostl y for younger generation, through the creation of an information center about the native portuguese forest, nature restoration and sustainability projects.

- Development of the educational potential towards the history of the fires in Portugal, through the creation of a memorial center for the victims and heroes of the fires, and a center of instruction and prevention towards the fire.
