Pela Preservação do Património Natural da Península de Tróia

Com esta petição, o Movimento Dunas Livres pede a participação ativa dos cidadãos amigos das dunas, pela proteção do património natural da Península de Tróia.

Atingindo 7000 assinaturas, enviaremos a nossa CARTA ABERTA, escrita em colaboração com a LPN - Liga da Proteção da Natureza. Será então subscrita pelos assinantes e direcionada a vários órgãos municipais e do Governo, em que fundamentamos a nossa exigência pela conservação do tesouro natural que são os ecossistemas dunares desta região, ameaçados por urbanização turística desregulada.

Lutamos assim para que a nossa voz e opinião, como cidadãos, seja ouvida e respeitada nas ações que são implementadas no nosso território. A hora de agir é AGORA. Contamos convosco.

“Esta faixa costeira Tróia-Sines é uma das últimas e mais bem preservadas zonas do litoral ibérico, um tesouro natural único que até hoje escapou às pressões que se fazem sentir na orla costeira. No entanto, a classificação territorial não acompanha, nem salvaguarda, o seu Património Natural único. As urbanizações previstas para as denominadas Unidades Operativas de Planeamento (UNOP) 4, 7, e 8 ameaçam frontalmente, assumidamente e irreversivelmente um Património Natural insubstituível.

Este Movimento é pelas Dunas Livres da construção insustentável; é pelo investimento num futuro verdadeiramente valioso para as populações locais e vindouras; é pelo respeito da participação dos cidadãos nas decisões estruturantes de Portugal; é pela defesa de um património de valor incalculável para o Mundo.
A defesa do património natural único e insubstituível da Peninsula de Tróia é da responsabilidade de todos. Por tudo o que foi mencionado nesta carta, requeremos que toda esta área seja abrangida pela Reserva Natural do Estuário do Sado, e obtenha assim o estatuto de conservação e a protecção que merece.”

With this petition, the Dunas Livres Movement asks for the active participation of the citizens that are dune friends, for the protection of the natural heritage of the Tróia Peninsula.

Upon reaching 7000 signatures, we will send our OPEN LETTER, subscribed by the ones who sign the petition and directed to several municipal and Governmental parties, in which we fundamente our demands for the conservation of the natural treasure which are these dunar ecossystems of this region, threatened by unregulated touristic urbanisation.

We fight so that our voice and opinion, as citizens, may be heard and respected in the actions that are implemented in our territory. The time to act is NOW. We are counting on you.

Excerpts from the open letter:
“The Tróia-Sines coastline is one of the last and most well-preserved areas of the Iberian shore, a unique natural treasure that has, until now, escaped the pressures that are placed on the seaside1. However, the territorial classification does not follow, or safeguard, its unique Natural Heritage. The urbanisation scheduled for the Operational Units of Planning (UNOP – Unidades Operativas de Planeamento) 4, 7 and 8 (Annex I) are an upfront, assumed and irreversible threat to irreplaceable Natural Heritage.

This Movement is for Dunes Free of unsustainable building; it is for the investment in a truly valuable future for local and coming generations; it is for the respect for citizen participation in the structuring decisions in Portugal; it is for the defence of a heritage of incalculable value to the World.

The defence of the unique and irreplaceable natural heritage of the Tróia Peninsula is of everyone’s responsibility. For all that is mentioned in this letter, we request that this whole area be included in the Natural Reserve of the Sado Estuary, so that it obtains the conservation status and the protection that it deserves.”
